Adults and Youth may attend

Come train with Grandmaster Relson Gracie at his first Kentucky seminar since his Red Belt Promotion last month, the highest rank in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu!

Learn Gracie Jiu-Jitsu directly from the source!  Relson Gracie regularly travels across the country and the world for seminars, teaching his own style of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The devil is in the details and Relson delivers with outstanding instruction. Relson breaks down the most complex Gracie Jiu-Jitsu techniques so a beginner with absolutely no experience in grappling can easily learn it, and adds so much detail that a world champion will need to take notes. Relson teaches children as young as 5 years old up through adults in their 80’s. Relson’s father, Grandmaster Helio Gracie actively practiced Gracie Jiu-Jitsu into his 90s.

***Due to Grandmaster Relson's Seminar, regularly scheduled academy classes will be combined into a self-defense class for ALL students in Youth & Adult TKD and Youth GJJ from 5:00-6:00pm on this Thursday, May 2nd.***

Students and parents are invited to stick around for Mr. Clark's Purple Belt Presentation!!

Tournament Team Practice - April 20th @ 3:00pm, April 27th @ 3:00pm
David Hamilton (thank you Mr. Hamilton!) will hold extra practices on some Saturdays for students who wish to compete in taekwondo tournaments.  Two such tournaments coming up are in Chillicothe, Ohio on May 18th and London, Ohio on July 13th.  More information about these tournaments and a couple others is on the board in the lobby or in the office.  Any interested taekwondo student is welcome to attend.

Relson Gracie Seminar & Mr. Clark Purple Belt Promotion - May 1st or 2nd, time/date TBA
Master Relson Gracie (who we were honored to witness his red belt promotion, the highest belt possible, during our time in Hawaii) has indicated he will be at our studio either Wednesday, May 1st or Thursday, May 2nd for a seminar and to present Mr. Clark with his Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt.  More information to come about this exciting event!!

Bushido Invitational Jiu-Jitsu Tournament - Saturday, May 4th
We are holding our first ever jiu-jitsu tournament at the studio on May 4th.  The tournament is for adult students and we have various students coming from other academies.  Pre-registration is $35 until April 20th and includes a free t-shirt.  After this date it is $40.  We are very excited to be hosting this event, so even if you are not participating we invite you to come and support our students. Visit www.bushidoinvitational.com for more information.

David Floyd (thank you Floyd!) has been working hard on the event and has secured some awesome giveaways for participants including $1000 worth of items from Fuji Sports, Defense Soap, and Roots Kimonos.  A HUGE thank you also goes out to our awesome sponsors: Jordan Ice Company, Paris Signs, Great American Floor Center, Defense Soap, and Roots Kimonos.

Demonstration - Saturday, Mat 25th - Memorial Day Weekend
Students have the opportunity to perform a demonstration on Saturday, May 25th in Ironton, Ohio if we have enough interest.  Our taekwondo demonstration team would perform, as well as any Lil' Dragon or Jiu-Jitsu students that are interested in showing what they learn in class.  Please sign-up in the office if you are interested in attending.  The time of the demonstration is not set, and there will also be extra practices for those participating, particularly the Demonstration Team.

***As the weather warms up, Mr. Clark may permit taekwondo students to wear a t-shirt only instead of their toe balk top, provided it is a Phil Clark's Martial Arts or Relson Gracie shirt.  We have some shirts in the office and can order more if needed.
